I’m the Genomics Research Technician and Lab Manager at the University of Hawai‘i at Hilo, where I support molecular ecology research focused on both invasive and native arthropod species across the Hawaiian Islands. My work involves a range of genomic techniques including DNA and eDNA extraction, gel electrophoresis, PCR, qPCR, dual indexing, metabarcoding, and preparing samples for high-throughput sequencing. In addition to managing lab operations, I mentor undergraduate and graduate students, assist visiting scholars and post-baccalaureate interns, and help foster an inclusive, collaborative environment that supports conservation-driven science and community-based research.
